CoreCooling
The CoreCooling products are great.
Before the IM Kona race I did test the base-layer under my swim-skin, even with patches in all the pockets while swimming and that worked fine.
So, I did swim with the base-layer under my swim-skin during the race and there are no issues. It did not restrict/limit me in any way. By starting with the base-layer already during the swim, I did not loose time to put that on during T1.
The arm-sleeves cool great, I felt that they might be a little bit longer on my upper-arms though, but not a major issue.
The head-band also cools me very well, so I put them in the T2-bag, together with the arm-sleeves. I got them both on easily, it maybe took me 5 seconds tying the head-band and 10 seconds for each arm-sleeve. Next time I could even put them on while running, but it is for sure worthwhile the 25 seconds. And during the race it was easy to put ice in the head-band.
This was my 7th Kona World Champion race. I managed to get 16 minutes off my Personal Best, including 7 minutes off my Personal Best on the run. Of course I was sour and tired, but especially in the 2nd part of the run, I felt way better than I ever have. The last 10 miles on the marathon are normally pure agony and miserable, but I felt much, much better than ever before and that was because I was a lot cooler. Having as much experience on that race, the way I felt in the second half of the run is a huge game-changer.
For me there is no sequence in which of the 3 CoreCooling products I would choose above the other, I like them all. But I really like the head-band. And next time I will for sure try to open my tri-suit completely and use the base-layer as body-cover (that is required by race-rules), as Kacper Stepniak did.
I am definitely a believer and it really helped me. I will definitely continue to use them regularly both during training and races. My home is in a moderate condition area, but I do see the benefits even in cooler temperatures, when training inside and as post-cooling to recover faster.
