OnaSport CLM

The CLM sensor allows me to train in a very targeted way. As a long-distance triathlete, it is very important for me to stay in the right training zones. With the sensor, every training session is a hit because I can achieve exactly the target for that training session.

I also find using the sensor practically very easy, exactly the same as heart rate monitors as we already know them, the CLM sensor uses a chest strap and you can quickly see the data collected in the app.

Heart rate, fluid loss and real-time lactate are all measured so I can see immediately after training how much fluid I have lost (and thus need to drink extra if necessary).

During training, for example, I can perfectly stay just below my tipping point by keeping an eye on my lactate level, allowing me to train this tipping point and move up with it.

Previous Lactate Experience
I now measure with a portable lactate meter. The problem is that a bit of sweat in the sample already produces totally different values. It is also time-consuming and I only have a single value.
Such a CLM sensor will shake up the established training ways and will be the future of sport-training.

CoreCooling

Prior for me leaving for Kona for the IM World Championship I used the CoreCooling in The Netherlands. Beforehand I was a little sceptic, but the products were surprisingly okay. I really like the base-layer; the cooling patches attach to my body very well and make the blue fabric cold and that cools me. The head-band feels like a head-band... so I did not feel it. The ice-cubes can be shifted in the pocket very easily during running, so I can place them at the exact position I want. I used the patches in the arm-sleeves and upfront I thought they would bounce, but I did hardly notice them, and they are cooling great. The day I used CoreCooling it was 22 degrees C in The Netherlands and it was humid, but the cooling from the patches and blue fabric was more then enough to get me cold :-)

My Kona Race experience: I used the CoreCooling base-layer and head-band. It was really nice and effective. It helped me extremely well, especially during the run. I used ice in the pockets and cold water over the blue fabric to keep my core cool. I managed to keep pushing and could fight myself to the podium in my age-group M30-34 and 8th place Age-groupers overall!
